Mr ANOULACK CHANTHIVONG (Macquarie Fields—Minister for Better Regulation and Fair Trading, Minister for Industry and Trade, Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology, Minister for Building, and Minister for Corrections) — I pay tribute to Henry Smith, a staunch Labor supporter, who recently passed away at the age of 97. Henry was a true gentleman. I recall spending time with Henry and his late wife, Iris, to recognise their 70th wedding anniversary on 21 April 2021. Henry proclaimed that marriage was a blessing, and Iris the love of his life. Henry and Iris migrated to Australia from England with their young family in the 1970s. After a stint in Tasmania, the couple moved to Glenfield and Macquarie Fields. Henry played an active role in the University of the Third Age and was a champion of lifelong learning. Through their involvement with the church, Henry and Iris witnessed Broughton Anglican College's growth. Henry loved cricket and was a huge Arsenal F.C. fan. Henry once said of his long marriage that life was full of ups and downs, but better enjoyed together. Henry and Iris had four daughters, and a loving extended family. While Henry's passing is sad for all those who knew and loved him, he is now home in heaven – reunited with his beloved Iris.
