Death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

21 September 2022

Mr ANOULACK CHANTHIVONG (Macquarie Fields) (18:35): I am pleased to offer my very brief remarks on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Members from across the aisle have said many great things about Her Late Majesty, including about her dedication to service.

Over the past days and weeks we have witnessed an outpouring of grief.

Her Majesty was truly loved by millions across the globe. She was also deeply admired and respected for her selfless service, her commitment to the Commonwealth, her deep and sincere faith and her love of her family.

I cannot imagine that we will ever see the likes of Queen Elizabeth II again. Her 70 years of dedication and service, and putting others first, is more than just a number. It is quite extraordinary in so many ways.

The words of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II were matched by her deeds.

When Her Late Majesty made a vow and commitment to her country and the Commonwealth as a young woman, she meant every word to the very end.

There is a level of admiration from everybody across the globe for her duty and dedication to the Crown, always putting her country and the Commonwealth first, before any personal thoughts or feelings she may have had on a range of views.

Like every individual across the globe, we all have our thoughts. But to be able to contain those thoughts and emotions because of her dedication to duty is an admirable trait of her true character.

I offer my condolences to the royal family.

May our sovereign lady rest in peace and may her family be comforted by the outpouring of grief and love throughout the world.
