A long-awaited lift for Macquarie Fields Station is set to be overlooked once again when this year’s State Budget is handed down next week.

Member for Macquarie Fields, Anoulack Chanthivong MP, has fired back at Premier Gladys Berejiklian’s recent announcement for $200 million to improve stations under the Transport Access Program. 

“This is a plan with no action. Where’s our fair share?” said Mr Chanthivong.

“Macquarie Fields Station has 70 steps and no lift. Our community has every right to be angry and frustrated.

“If the Liberal Government was serious about making public transport accessible to everyone, as they’ve stated, then they would fund an upgrade at Macquarie Fields Station as part of this year’s State Budget.

“Our community deserves better and we deserve our fair share.”

Mr Chanthivong has also demanded that the Liberal Government make commuter carparking a priority in this year’s State Budget. 

“Edmondson Park highlights the acute shortage of commuter carparking along the south west Sydney rail corridor, and it’s simply not good enough.

“The Liberal Government makes a windfall in stamp duty from our residents, yet fails to deliver on key infrastructure. It’s appalling.”

Residential property transactions in Edmondson Park generated more than $38 million in stamp duty revenue between 2015 and 2017.
