Member for Macquarie Fields Anoulack Chanthivong MP has launched a community campaign calling for a Service NSW centre in Minto to cater for Campbelltown Local Government Area residents.

“Residents in our community deserve convenient access to NSW Government services, and the Liberal Government has ignored our needs for too long,” Mr Chanthivong said.

“The Liberal Government promotes its Service NSW model as a one-stop-shop, yet residents from the Campbelltown Local Government Area are travelling considerable distances at great personal expense and inconvenience to access essential services. It is unacceptable and unfair.

“The provision of an adequate network of Service NSW offices is essential for a city of Campbelltown’s size,” Mr Chanthivong added.

The Liberal Government closed the former RTA offices in Campbelltown and Ingleburn in late 2015. Since then, residents from the Campbelltown Local Government Area (LGA) have had to travel to Service NSW centres at Gregory Hills, Liverpool or the new centre at Edmondson Park.

Mr Chanthivong wrote to the Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government in July on behalf of Minto Mall’s Centre Manager, Mr Michael Prestia, regarding a Service NSW centre for Minto. The response stated that there were no current plans to introduce a Service NSW Centre in Campbelltown.

Yet Campbelltown is one of the fastest-growing LGAs in south-west Sydney, with a population more than 175,000.

Figures provided in Budget Estimates show that about 40% of customers who visited the Macarthur Service Centre in Gregory Hills reside in the Campbelltown LGA.

With the redevelopment of Minto Mall underway, the site would be an ideal location for a Service NSW Centre and provide residents in the Campbelltown Local Government Area with convenient access to essential government services.

“It is time for the Liberal Government to stop the spin and stop the pork-barrelling. Instead, give us a fair go and give us our fair share of services,” Mr Chanthivong said.

“Residents throughout Campbelltown would welcome a Service NSW centre in Minto, which would provide convenient access to an important government service. The time to deliver it is now.”
