It is my honour to be the 5th Member for Macquarie Fields and represent our community in the NSW Parliament.
I was first elected in 2015 and was humbled when my community returned me to this position in 2019 and 2023.
In 2023, I was appointed Minister for Better Regulation and Fair Trading; Minister for Industry and Trade; Minister for Innovation, Science and Technology; Minister for Building; and Minister for Corrections in the NSW Government. Contact me in my Ministerial capacity here.
I was appointed Shadow Minister for Finance and Shadow Minister for Industry and Trade in June 2021.
My journey to Parliament began when my parents fled the instability of their birth country of Laos when I was six, seeking a better future for me and my three brothers. Every day I am grateful for their courage in coming to Australia to give our family a better future.
I learnt the value of hard work helping out Mum and Dad at our family’s small grocery shop after school and on weekends. Working in the shop, I met lots of different people with a generous spirit and friendly nature. Our community is special.
I’m proud to have grown up here, having attended Robert Townson Public and Robert Townson High schools in Raby. I then went on to graduate from the University of Sydney and, more recently, the London School of Economics and Political Science.
My public schooling informed and reinforced my conviction that access to a good education can open doors for everyone so I want to ensure we are not overlooked when it comes to education, skills and training.
I worked as an economist for more than 13 years prior to being elected as the Member for Macquarie Fields. In 2004 I was elected to Campbelltown Council and enjoyed the privilege of serving as Mayor from 2011-2012.
My approach to being an MP is simple:
- stand up for the rights of everyone in our community;
- never be silent on issues that affect our quality of life;
- have an open-door policy for any constituent who needs my help and work every day to repay the trust this electorate has put in me.
